How do you squeeze in self-care after work?

Between work, social plans, and my hour-long commute home, I'm often left with only a little while to unwind before it's time for bed. When you're short on time, what self-care tactics do y'all use to rejuvenate yourselves (but in an expedited way, ha)?

I like to start my self-care on my commute home. I like to listen to podcast as I am driving home that puts me in a great mood or headspace. It could be a gossip podcast or a news. It just depends on my mood for the day. When I get home the FIRST thing that gets me into that self-care mood is removing the bra! Then after that I like to set my phone down and just be in the moment. But a guilty pleasure of mine is responding on this community feed. This puts me into a good headspace too!

Is a bottle of wine considered self-care?

Two things: I've redefined what "self care" is a bit. It's not just about "relaxing," it's purely about taking care for yourself. Making time to eat healthy, unwind after work, work out, go to the chiropractor... all of that is important! And I *schedule it.* That way when I'm looking at my calendar and a social event comes up, I can say "I can't make it until X o'clock because I have an appointment." Who cares if the appointment is with yourself. You make time for you.

I fill a bucket with hot water and pour in great-smelling epsom salt and I soak my feet!! I have a great foot lotion that I rub on my feet, ankles and calves during and after soaking. I feel great afterwards!! This helps me relax all over and it's inexpensive and simple.

I'm a big fan of lotioning up the feet (oil or just whatever's lying around) and then putting them up the wall (https://www.yogajournal.com/poses/legs-up-the-wall-pose) and either just laying there and breathing, or, I read something light/inspirational. Just 10 minutes before bed and I feel a little pampered/it helps me sleep. I also love a good cup of loose leaf sleepy tea; that's my winding down routine -- I make a cup of that, chat with my roomie or go and journal, then feet up/read->bed.

I've recently come across facial Gua-sha.. its a relaxing facial massage you can do yourself with the help of tools made of jade, rose quartz, etc., it can be done as part of your evening routine and not only is it really relaxing but helps with eliminating lymph toxins! You can purchase a tool on Amazon and If you're on Instagram, follow Britta_Beauty.. she does mini tutorial videos on her page.

I'm definitely in the same boat with a busy schedule and little time for self-care, so what I do is give myself a full day every so often to just squeeze in a ton of self-care stuff. Whether it be finally getting to the gym or getting a haircut or getting one of those chair massages at a nail salon, it's helped me to clear my head of the past few weeks and set myself up for the busy times ahead.
