Basic job description language - what does it really mean?

When a job description includes a specific responsibility and then adds, "as directed by management" multiple times in that description, what are they really trying to say? Does this infer the current style is micro-management? Here's an example: "Perform basic research, analysis, and summarization of regulatory issues, as directed by management." I like the potential for this role but I'm a little concerned. Thanks for your responses!

I read that as "this won't be your day to day, but management may need help with it occasionally"

If chosen to interview, you can work this into a question to see if the management style is more of the micro-managing, coaching or hands off.

Yeah I read that to mean that nature of your work will be outlined and you will be in charge of executing it.

Not necessarily micro-managed but it means that it is an executive position not managerial, where you will get directions for most tasks rather than take decisions alone. I wouldn't worry
