I recently had a Web Ex Interview with a prospective employer’s team. (17 team members) I was fully prepared for the interview, checked technology, ensured family members and fur babies were out of room & quiet, ensured lighting, dressed as if I was in-person interviewing. I logged on 10 minutes early, set my volume to mute and no video. 2 minutes prior to interview time I sat down and was fully prepared for the interview. I’m very familiar with video conferencing at this point. I had interviewed with 2 managers prior who were both very excited for me to meet their respective teams. I was equally as excited. I was told it would be a chance to meet the team and ask questions of them as well. I know all of this is new and awkward however I thought some of the behavior of the team was rude. Here’s what happened. Only 4 team members showed their screens (faces). All 17 introduced themselves however I was staring at blank screens with only initials. It completely threw me and I was totally off my interview game. I’m a pretty confident person (not cocky) but I was a mess I kept saying ugh after almost every answered question. I’m pretty sure I came off as a bumbling idiot.
Anyway I’m curious if anyone has experienced this before?
I mean I’ll be prepared for this should I have to interview again with another company this way but I just thought this behavior was rude, you get to judge me anonymously (sort of) but I don’t get to interact with you! Am I wrong? Thoughts?
Thank you in advance.
