Anyone started a new job during the pandemic with their kids at home?

I wanted to reach out the FGB community to see if there are any moms with young children at home who have recently started a new career during the pandemic. If so, I would love to hear how you're balancing getting up to speed and giving your new job 100 percent while also making sure your kids are doing there at home learning. Is it possible? I'm starting to wonder if waiting to seriously look for a new job may have to wait. Any feedback or comments would be appreciated!

I haven't started a new job but I would hope that your new employer doesn't/wouldn't expect you to be giving 100% to your job right now, especially if you have young children. That seems unfair, unrealistic, and just overall terrible! Every employer is different and that's for sure...my company is still hiring and I feel like our leadership has been super balanced in terms of setting expectations and understanding that we aren't just "working from home"...parents (ESPECIALLY moms) have been put forced into this impossible situation where we just can't win. We have even been asked to revisit our performance and development objectives for 2020 since the past couple months have been all over the place. If you're researching new employers I would definitely spend ample time looking into their presence on all social platforms (including YouTube and Glassdoor) to get a really good sense of their values and their culture. If you end up going through the recruiting process, make sure to ask tons of questions to get a feel for what your direct manager and department leadership is like. Good luck!

While I'm not on this boat, I definitely know of people who are! Following this thread to hear thoughts. Great question!
