My fellow FGBs... lately I have been feeling so out of touch with everything! I'm not myself - depressed and live each day just going through the motions. Last week, during a virtual meeting with all the C-Suite, a mishap happened and it was on me to fix. Now mind you, I was flustered but rose above and fixed it, but had my mind been straight, this probably would not have happened. This led to a discussion with our CEO, about my performance how it has not been up to par. I frankly was very honest with him. I admitted, I'm not myself and realize it's time to get help. Was I slightly embarrassed admitting this, yes! The point is, I admitted it and have since seen my doctor and contacted a psychologist. Though I'm still not 100%, I'm on my way to feeling better.
If you are feeling anxious, depressed, not sleeping well... seek help! Most likely your company has a very private Employee Assistance Program for you to benefit from - use it! We have to get through these obstacles to make ourselves better. We can't do better if we ourselves are not better. So, for what it's worth - I'm putting this out there so in case you might be feeling the stress, loneliness, inadequate, or just not yourself... it's okay, just get help if you need it.
