I turned 60 in June and was fired for the first time in my life two days later. I was Marketing Director for a small technology company and half of my job revolved around trade shows - which disappeared due to the Pandemic. To make matters worse, my boss told me I was taking too much time talking with the sales team and that I needed to work more independently. So let me get this straight...marketing should not "bother" the sales people? Hmm, not the way I understand it. Sales has to inform marketing about various customer pain points, top solutions for specific problems, etc.
I could write all day long with that info. Anyway, I was replaced by a freelance writer who is probably being paid half my salary. My husband was laid off in September and has yet to find work. I'm feeling pretty terrible but hope this turns into an opportunity for me to find something awesome! Trying to stay positive. Good luck to everyone who might be struggling out there. Straighten your crown - tomorrow is another day!
