Absolutely ask, the sooner the better. He's the one who used to date of October not you. SImply call a meeting with him, bring any doumentation in about the timing of the review and everything you've accomplished since you've become the new whatever (whatever the promotion was) and any good comments you've gotten on any new work from anyone. If you wna to now what to ask for (he may have a number but if not) do some legwork online (salary.com etc) and see what the going rate for the position is, and suggest a rang around that. If he doesn't want to meet now, then at the meeting get him to name another date for a meeting and then at the end of all of this go back to your desk and write up a short meeting minutes list and mail it to him as a 'what i took from the meeting' message for your own records. Make sure to get him to verbally committ to a review date so you canadd that to your email back to him. Good luck.

All he can say is no. Better to keep up the pressure and make sure your expectations are clear. Especially if you get passed up this year you will want to establish your expectations for next year!
