I had the guts to ask my boss to increase my salary for next year and here’s what happened.

Every year, I get a 1% increase every 6-months. However, given the value that I know I bring to the team, I decided to make a bold move and ask for a 9% annual salary increase starting in January 2021. I did this by coming to my boss with all of my previous accomplishments this year and what new projects and leadership initiatives I’d like to take on next year. I also researched salaries online AND talked to a few people in similar roles to determine the amount that I should ask for. The conversation went really well and this week, I received the okay that the company is willing to increase my pay in Q1, 2021!

Congratulations on your success! Stories like these are what motivates me to work harder. However, could you share some examples of the extra things you did to earn your Management's respect and also that extra salary? Thank you xx
