Advice needed - training for interns?

I'm used to training interns in person, but this year we're doing our summer internship completely remote. Does anyone have resources or ideas they use for remote onboarding or general intern training? We focus on digital marketing and data analytics but anything--even resources about working remotely--would be so helpful. Thank you!

Yes, I concur with Jennifer A. I manage interns now remotely and instead of daily in-person check-ins, I have them schedule daily 15-30mn calls with me and they provide the agenda. If no agenda, then we mostly talk about their well-being and mental state. I ask them what they need from me for tomorrow or feedback on the day. We move to weekly check-ins after first 30 days and I fold them into my twice a week team meetings as well. They are also encouraged to reach out and get to know 1-2 new people a week through virtual skype call or chat.

Checking in is so important--even if it's not work-related. Thank you, Mari!

Consider starting your training the same way you would normally - but use Zoom/Teams instead of a meeting room. Next consider each task you would normally 'drop' and look at it from a 'remote' perspective. You might need to build in a little more written descriptions and/or images and some extra 'check points' to have them demo their work to you with their thought process. Last, make sure you have the same 'open door' policy you would have at the office but instead of an open door, it might be an open chat. Good Luck with your new teaching challenge!
