My embarrassing message accidentally landed in my co-worker's inbox — I'm so ashamed!

During my lunch break, I was amused by how my outfit looked after going to the bathroom (totally out of wack) and snapped a picture to send to my husband. Except my message didn't go to my husband — it went to my manager! While the picture wasn't revealing, it was definitely inappropriate and I immediately apologized to my manager. It took a lot of confidence and self-assurance to go back to work that day as I was really ashamed of my behavior. Have you ever made this kind of mistake at work before? How did it play out and how did you get back to work?

Wow, you handled that with grace! Now, time to laugh it off and mark your separate email accounts with different loud colors! Maybe different profile pictures will help you catch those messages before they go out... although... I'm sure you're not going to let this happen again!

I totally agree. We all make mistakes. The important thing is how we handle them. Having awareness and taking action based on this is crucial.

Agree with what everyone is saying - you owned it, addressed it immediately and now it's time to move on. We all make mistakes and with time, I'm sure your manager will forget (if they haven't already!)

Good for you for owning it! It says volumes about you. Agree with Amy to use your personal email address.

Good for you for owning up to it. My advice would be not to use your business email for personal use, just in case that was part of the problem.

Sounds like you handled it perfectly. We all make mistakes. You recognized it right away, apologized, and held you head high.
