Look for the job now before more people are also looking for the same job when your current situation implodes.

You are better off staying in the job as long as you can while looking for a new position. Employers and recruiters seem to be positively biased towards applicants who are currently in a job. So I would hang in there while you look around and network. You could also collect unemployment if they do choose to lay you off; you won't get that if you walk away. Financially prepare yourself by cutting back where you can and saving up. You can definitely do both job searching and weight loss at the same time! Growing out your hair shouldn't need much energy or oversight - it pretty much does that on its own!
