Hi guys! I’m a 27 year old single parent. I’ve been preparing to move out of state and my mom was laid off Friday. Now I’m putting moving out of state on hold as I’m looking for extra ways to make more cash to support my parents. They have been a godsend with helping with my daughter. They are the best support system ever and now I feel like it’s up to me to take on full responsibility. She’s not at all worried about it (seemingly on the outside) but it is really stressing me. I know besides her 401k money that she doesn’t have very much in her savings. She now isn’t eligible for retirement within her company that she spent 35 years at. I feel sorry for her and it really saddens me to know that she isn’t going to be as financially stable as she once was. Her house isn’t paid off and she supports my dad as well since he was laid off last year and hasn’t been able to successfully find another job. Does anyone have any positivity to share or maybe some suggestions/options for senior citizens looking for work? Are there any careers available that she may retire out of sooner than later based off of her age? Any help will be gratefully appreciated right now. Thank you all.
P.S. she was a purchaser/buyer at a coil manufacturing company. She spent 4 years in the army too.
