Once, I had this presentation about a project proposal in one of the subjects in my college year, entitled "women empowerment on the economy aspect as the program for ASEAN" as I acknowledge on how small the open opportunity for women to be involved in the economic aspect of Indonesia, for instance in the employment. Then, in the q&a session, one of my friend "accused" me as if I was trying to encourage women on top of men, meanwhile, in her religion, women should not be on top of men.
What do you guys think about that?
This issue has become a big issue in Indonesia for years, up until now, but once again, as religion dominates the country, the term "women empowerment" was seen as an encouragement to dominates and rebel against men. No wonder, gender equality and women empowerment has become one of the hardest topics to discuss and bring up to the public.
