Help Making a Career Decision

I am in a bit of a dilemma. Thought I'd ask what FGB community for insights. I got a job offer today. Took a while but they finally came through. Also this morning, I came across a new opportunity in one of my dream companies for a role that I am 101% sure fits me. Reached out to my network within the company and had him sent my CV to the hiring manager. Now, I am in a bit of dilemma. Do I take what I have now and not lean on a high possibility of a dream job? Or risk it for something that is highly possible but no guarantees even with an employee referral. What would you do?

Congratulations on your offer! If the job is the right fit and you'll be happy in the role, take it and keep pursuing your dream company. I agree with Barb's comment regarding the current job climate. There is no guarantee that the opportunity at your dream company will turn into an offer. This time of the year is especially hard for hiring managers with many open roles being closed and unfulfilled due to company financial commitments. If you do find yourself with a second offer in a few weeks and decide to accept, be honest with the first company and work with them to determine the best exit plan and timeline. They've invested as much time in you as you have in them and you never know when paths will cross again. Good luck!

In today's job climate, I would take the job that you are offered. Then I would continue to move forward with the "maybe job". This is your career path - you are allowed to take a job and then quit that job days, weeks, or months later if a better offer comes in.

I would absolutely risk it! Always shoot for your dreams. See it, believe it and it will come! Good luck!
