Absolutely. I heard in a lecture recently on managing emotions through traumatic times that it's estimated that approximately 34% of Americans could be diagnosed with clinical depression. I try to limit my exposure to news and stay focused on my day to day health and well-being.

I've been glued to the news since March and finally this week it was too much. From the virus, Arbey shooting, Floyd murder, another shooting of a woman in her own home by the police, the protest movements in Hong Kong, and the p!ss [email protected]@r behavior of our leaders I've had enough. Add this on top of private matters I'm dealing with, I'm overwhelmed. I'm overwhelmed because this is my country, this is my home. It is broken and bleeding and the ones who are suppose to protect us are the ones hurting us.

I am currently working on updating our hiring process and community outreach programs. In particular working to remove any systematic or unconscious biases we may have developed as a company. I feel we are doing a pretty good job but there is always room for improvement. I am hopeful I am contributing to the solution. This has been comforting to me since I just might make a difference in my little neck of the woods. The problem is huge and seems so overwhelming. I also re-read White Fragility and Blind Spot; Hidden Biases of Good People. Both great reads and I highly recommend.

Yes I feel you. Today has been hard but this whole week feels mentally and emotionally draining. As an African american mother, daughter and sister to some of the most amazing black men I know, I am anxious, scared, and angry to say the least. Work seems trivial to my pain.

I am having trouble, too. Trying to keep a balance of being involved and staying healthy and balanced. Because, I notice that if I don't keep a balance, I cannot help in any way, shape or form. Please, let's not judge each other for how we all approach this very difficult situation. I applaud everyone for making it through another day. Keep moving forward an making improvements, in any way possible.
