Is FGB working for you? If so, share your best practices! (In terms of job search)

This is a risky question perhaps but I want to know if I am spending my time in the right places. Is FGB working for you? Have you or a friend gotten a job via FGB? I want to clarify that FGB has done something wonderful for me already but when it comes to the job search in particular, I haven't seen it work yet so I am curious to understand who has been successful with it and what did you do? I'm brand new here and I see the site is geared toward tech and marketing, but in the job search area, all 87 jobs in my city are at Wal-Mart (cashier, fresh food, deli), childcare, and driving for construction jobs. I'm not using FGB for the job search features.

I would agree with the posters above. My expertise lies outside of the tech or finance field, but FGB has been a great resource for anything business-related. I think it helps to feel like you are not alone when you are in the hunt for the next job opportunity--especially given the current circumstances. Any assistance, information or guidance people can provide is always worth a look. You never know how thinking about something in a new and different way might help on your next interview.

I look at FGB as a platform that helps us as a whole and not just for job opportunities. When you think of your career and taking it to the next level networking, understanding company dynamics and various skill sets including negotiation all come into play and FGB is great for helping women as a whole become more confident and knowledgeable and take a more active role in their career.

I haven’t been here for very long, but I found that this website is more catered to women who work in Tech and Finance. I do neither. Which is cool, but not for me. I have met a lot of really great people here though!

When I was laid-off at the end of last year, being part of FGB did nothing for my search. It was nice to have a place where I could connect with women in similar circumstances, and I appreciate the advice I can glean from posts. But I certainly didn't obtain any professional opportunities here. I eventually landed a role by utilizing my local network.
