I took a 20% salary cut to have the work-life balance I always wanted — here's what happened
3 years ago, I was working in an extremely high-pressure role and on the road to major burnout. I started looking for work elsewhere, and landed a role with 20% lower salary, but at a company with an emphasis on work-life balance.
Fast forward to now when I'm officially one year into my new role! I have no regrets. I'm definitely saving a bit more than I used to and cut back on some of my expenses, but overall I'm much happier and finding my life more fulfilling, professionally and personally.
I wanted to share this for any one who's considering a career transition or new job with this kind of pay cut. As long as you're still able to cover your cost of living, the work-life balance is very much worth it. :)
