My boss on team calls consistently shares other companies mottos and work ethics . We work in a huge huge global Mnc. We have enough and more mottos and work ethics that he can quote and use. But he consistently quotes Google , Amazon , Pixar etc. The Google way of doing things.
This was ok, till he send a three paragraph congratulatory email to one his reportees who got into Amazon. No mention of retention..no mention of we would love to keep you. Only congratulations for his "hard work" and dedication to get into Amazon. And how inspiring he is.
I find this very disturbing. I don't remember any of his team recieving this long email of recognition for working day and night to solve an issue. I mean yes he says wow or something..maybe a two liner at most.
This isn't a standalone behaviour to a great manager. He is generally a bully. Usually if we ask a question we are shot down and said to read up. And educate ourselves. Which is kind of true. We should.
We cannot even ask what an acronym is . Without getting shot down for not attending town halls. And we all know how many acronyms there are going around.
Generally he is a pain. And conducts long fellowship sessions where he speaks for the whole hour with no agenda.
His manger on the other hand. Never not even yearly or quarterly meets with his people.we had a company wide objective of getting certified and almost all of his team.workef hard and achieved it. Despite their regular jobs. He didn't even send a courtesy congratulations.
I have no feedback loop to complain and all of this seems very wrong to me
