I have been in my current position for four extraordinarily long and challenging years. I am the Payroll Coordinator for a distribution company. When I was hired, I was told that this position would be a stepping stone into an HR Recruiter or Coordinator role. The first six months were tough. This payroll position was the first one that I've ever had. I went through a week of training with the HR Manager that was filling in for the previous payroll person - she rushed through training me on week 1, Week 2 she was on vacation, week three she was on travel for her new role. The new HR Manager started the day before I did so she didn't know anything about the systems or the process, nor did the HR Admin. Needless to say, I made many mistakes and was put on a PIP until my current boss started a year after I had been with the company. Within that year, an HR Recruiter and an HR Generalist were hired - I was not considered for either of the positions. Fast forward to today, I've applied for several other HR positions locally and nationwide within the organization only to hear "you are qualified, but we went with someone else." It has been a difficult journey, and I almost feel that because the HR manager who hired "trained" me is known throughout the company has spoken ill of me because she and I do not have a good relationship. My relationship with my current boss is okay. In the last year, she has been very distant and hardly responds to emails when I ask questions, almost like she doesn't want to deal with me. I've also applied for positions outside of the company and have made it to the interview stage but nothing after that. Any suggestions on what I can do?
