I revealed something in an interview that I shouldn’t have apparently
A few years ago I was working when one of my coworkers was attacked by a man high on drugs in a stairwell. The company did not respond with appropriate protection so I found another job which sucked because I loved the work I was doing.
A recruiter asked me why I left after a year when the job was very desirable and the employer has a stellar reputation. I explained that I was concerned about my personal safety after a coworker was assaulted.
The recruiter stopped the conversation and said that I wouldn’t be a good fit for this role because their offices are in a downtown location. I was stunned. The campus I worked on is no where near the financial district this company is located and I have held other jobs in the financial district before this one. He said sorry, he didn’t think I would be a good fit.
Seriously? Because I was concerned about not being attacked at work I am not a good fit?
How should I reply going forward to avoid being tossed for telling the truth.
