Why are there men commenting on posts on this site? I thought it was for women & non binary people. If that’s no longer the case it would be good for all of us to be aware. I thought this was supposed to be a safe space.

The appearance and comments of males doesn't mean it's an unsafe place.

But it does mean that this isn’t a place for women and non binary people to talk about specific challenges knowing they won’t have to hear a man’s opinion. That makes it no different than other job board sites.

Where was the male comment and are you sure it’s not someone non-binary?
There are a lot of men out there supportive of women and their advancement and they can often offer some valuable perspective.

Then they can offer their perspective on all those other sites. If they want to be truly supportive they should recognize not every place is for them. As a white women I try to be respectful and not comment in spaces for people of color. Why can’t men do the same for this site?

Hello,
I agree with you. Their should be a safe place for women to converse about diversity and different issues that revolve around us. I would suggest that you say something to FGB organizers and find out what's going on.
Sincerely,
Katrina

The description on the web says this is open to everyone, but about women in the workplace. Having stated that, a man commented on something the other day and as carefully as I could, I told him to stop mansplaining because he discounted every other piece of advice that had already been posted as not good enough before giving his own advice.

Men and women will always think differently and approach things differently, so if this space is meant to be a safe space for women only, then it should be women only. I, myself, don't mind, but if the majority of women here prefer a ladies only environment, then it should be that way. That's part of what attracts women to this site.

Thanks for the information. Now I can seek out a space that suits my needs. You may want to change your group descriptions because it talks about joining like minded women.

FBG - perhaps offer men some guidelines or suggestions on how to be allies? I don't mind having them here, but we aren't looking to have them fix things for us. I've definitely seen a few comments that presume that's needed. The bias that some consciously or unconsciously bring does, at times, make things feel less welcoming.
