Boss says 'CA' salaries 'are different'- direct report make more money?
I am going to be hiring a manager to run a large facility in CA. I work in MA. the salary of this person will most likely be about 20K higher than Mine is now. I have 3 other direct reports running facilities, 2 in CA but don't make more money than I do.
My boss says that I wouldn't get a raise for supervising an Employee making more money than I, because 'CA is different'. this position is located about 40 mins north east of San Jose.
If I am ultimately responsible for the work this person does, I don't feel that I should make less money. any advice?
