anon or not.. a lot of detail has to be left out.. I have been working for 4 months, had a review, was ok.. been a rough start with lots of "new" for me, even though I am in the same sort of industry for over 30 years. nothing has been put into writing post my review. My manager is a woman who is "always right even when wrong" and does not like conflict, dialog or conversation.. her way or highway.. I have been busting my butt to make things work.. and doing things that make me a bit uncomfortable for my age and my background, but saying yes to try to accommodate.. my predecessor who trained me told me that last year, the same manager/boss posted an ad on indeed.com independent of their HR department, she was called out and basically said she just wanted to see who/what was out there.. the predecessor took it to the owners to say, hey, what's going on? yesterday my job feed (yes, I still get job leads from indeed. as nothing is perfect and I am always looking) popped into my e mail with my exact job description with a vague location. the owners only have 1 location exactly like mine, with the exact wording of my job and description. I had a friend call HR and HR said they knew nothing about the job posting and their indeed.com had not been updated. The job is on the company website, and on indeed.com. When my predecessor confronted the manager last year, and asked, am I being fired? the managers immediate response (she has an answer for everything) asked the woman, do you THINK you should be fired? the obvious answer was no... I feel like I am always walking on eggshells with this boss/manager as I do not have the authority to make policy decisions on my own (even though I have 30 years in the field - they just have different ways of doing things...) Do I confront the owners or my manager? Do I say anything at all ? Yes, I am looking for something else, but losing sleep and nervously waiting for the shoe to drop on my head... this is a close knit group, I am afraid to ask HR, (and the whole thing is weird) if HR knows nothing about it, why is it on the company website, and if she ran the ad independent of HR, then how can you even apply? I would have thought she learned her lesson last year if she got into trouble for doing the same thing, but yet do not feel comfortable at all.. I do not feel good about going to HR and asking as I do not think they will tell me the truth. If I go to my boss, she will ask the same stupid question she asked my predecessor and my answer would be the same, no, I do not think I should be fired.. I THINK I should be allowed to make my own decisions (!) what would you do ?
