it is that time of year again when women find themselves in hot water situations at holiday parties. Just because alcohol is being served at an event DOES NOT mean you should look at it as "free booze". Remember where you are and with whom you will be interacting. You can always get a drink at home. To make sure that you have ALL of your faculties with you and that NO ONE can take advantage of you or put you into a position you DO NOT want to be in, DON'T DRINK AT COMPANY HOLIDAY PARTIES> Ask the bartender for club soda with a slice of lime. That way everyone will think you are drinking when you really are not. Protect yourself first and foremost!

Spot Award Ideas
What is a meaningful way to recognize an employee who had a stand-out week? It's not enough for a bonus or salary incentive, but in recognition of stellar teamwork and stepping up when it counts. Have you received such recognition that was meaningful? Is there a gift/recognition that you wish you'd receive? Gift Card (how much)? Extra day off? I'd like to refresh our library of ideas.

Wondering if being the first candidate with a long lag time until last candidate interviewed had any impact on my being chosen.
I applied for a position in February, had quick screening interview with their internal recruiter, followed by hiring manager ZOOM 45 minutes interview. Went in for a panel interview on March 10. Sent my thank you emails and then waited for a couple of weeks before quick follow up email to recruiter who said they were finishing up. Well it ended up dragging out until May 5. At which time the recruiter told me that they’d extended the offer to another candidate.
Supposedly, I was a top candidate (I was told at one point during the process) but I’m wondering if the nearly 8 weeks from my panel interview with the was a disadvantage. Like how much are the interviewers (and there were 6 of them), going to remember me, the first one they interviewed 8 weeks ago?

How do you balance gratitude with being in work that is far below your skillset and pay grade?
The market is challenging-no doubt about that. I feel very fortunate to have work, but I am a VP/Sr. Director level now working at a managerial level with an employer who wants my very senior experience but has me working in the day to day needs. The pace is ridiculous. It was a mismatch between what they said the role is and what the needs actually are right now. I am full time contract and haven't stopped networking and looking. Honestly, between 50-55 hours a week and continuing my search, I'm feeling hopeless. Perspective please? Sending all strength and good fortune!
