How do you answer this...

I work for a large hospital that was bought by another large hospital plus several others. The new hospital system basically sucks. There is no support by anyone associated in your job. They are doing things that we manually did 20 years ago. They want things ran their way or no way. Im there 30 years and looking to get out . There is so much more BS. Screwed up paychecks etc. How you answer the interview question - Why are you leaving? Obviously I cant answer what I would really like too.

^^Agreed. Something along the lines of the new system has a lot of room for improvement and once processes are streamlined, it will create a more productive work environment for employees.

I agree that you probably shouldn’t answer with all that detail in an exit interview but you can constructively raise the fact that you believe many processes and procedures are broken and can be improved (and of pressed you can provide one or two examples) since the merger. The person giving you an exit interview may not know these things so I’d give them the benefit of he doubt. I’m assuming you’re asking about an exit interview and not just a colleague asking for your ideas. But even with a colleague I’d steer to this way of answering the question.

You're invited.
