Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this post. I want to explain my current job search situation get your honest opinion, please!
I've been unemployed for almost a year. I was laid off along with dozens of other colleagues and managers. At first I was thankful to have a little time off, and when I started job search I was very specific with what I was wanting (essentially a more senior level position). After a few discouraging months I became more flexible with what I was applying to (a lateral move from what I was doing before). I hired a resume writer to help. I started getting dozens of responses and some interviews scheduled, including a few that went to the final round only to be passed over by internal candidates or other applicants. At this point, after so many rejections, I am baffled as to why no one will hire me and I'm feeling pretty desperate. I have thought long and hard about how I present myself...I dress professionally, am well groomed, I'm very well spoken, have great body language, I am natural and at ease. I answer questions well and engage with the interviewer. What could it be?? Has anyone experienced something similar? I've asked advice from my (very opinionated) friends who I met through work and they don't understand it. At this point, I really don't know what to do. I'm desperate for income (I've been doing some side hustles but that's not an effective solution). Thanks for any thoughts and input
