Why do we gossip?

I'm definitely guilty of this... But why do we think it's necessary to rag on each other? If we can point out other people's flaws, does it diminish our own? Let's get real: bringing others down won't elevate me/you even if it's whispering behind someone's back. Can you relate? Kick the habit by making conversations count. Surround yourself with nonjudgemental friends/coworkers/family. And if it's unavoidable, turn down invitations to pick others apart. Last but not least, go be awesome today.
