Need advice on how to improve my employees English writing...

I lead a diverse team in technology that has wonderful talent. The only issue is that every time they send an update they forget punctuation. Are there any training, books I can recommend? Thank you!

Grammarly has changed my life! You can even select the "tone" on how you want to come across. Its is the bomb dot com.

Start with your own -- or did you do that deliberately?

I have a feeling this question will come up more often over the next few years. When I occasionally see writing samples (in emails, assignments for school, etc.) of teenagers I worry. It seems like their grammar skills (including spelling, writing complete sentences, punctuation) are not up to par. They have grown up in a world of texting and snap chatting, and are used to abbreviations, emojis and incomplete sentences. How will Gen Z change business communication over the next 20-30 years? Sigh...

I would recommend the book "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" or Strunk and White's "Elements of Style" for those on the team who truly want to improve their writing in the long term. In the short term, Grammarly or similar is probably your best bet.

If there is resistance to using Grammarly, you might want to point out how some of their communications could be mis-interpreted due to lack of punctuation. Similar to the comparison of "eats shoots and leaves" and "eats, shoots, and leaves". One is a koala, the other is a horror movie.

Another vote for Grammarly from me!! They free product is amazing and if it makes sense for you, maybe their subscription options would make sense! Also, have you had a team meeting with them? use some unrelate examples that show the importance of punctuation to convey accurate meaning. Perhaps also talk about simple punctuation. What I mean by this is commas and periods, not colon, semi-colon, hyphen, parenthesis, etc.... it could be it is beyond a habit but rather also not knowing!

We are big fans of Grammarly! www.grammarly.com It's like spellcheck for grammar (including missing punctuations!). There is a free version you can try out.
