Something I prioritize as I travel a lot too! I wrote a whole post on staying healthy while traveling but the key things are to shop at local markets or the perimeter of the grocery store to get fresh local fruits and veg. Additionally, try to cook for at least one of your meals which will help your budget too! Also stocking up on healthy snacks at a bulk store or market is a great idea (ie nuts, dried fruit, fruit, seeds etc). Doing your research ahead of time to find spots to pick up healthy snacks is a good idea and will help you avoid grabbing something unhealthy when hunger strikes. The post about it is here if you want to have a read :) https://gobehere.com/stay-fit-while-traveling/

It's an extra step, but most airlines will allow you to check a cooler!

Wow! I didn't know that. Have you tried it or seen someone do it?

Yes! When I went to the Bahamas a few years ago we checked a cooler with a ton of food + drinks which not helped me stay on track, but also saved me a ton of money. Make sure you tape up the cooler ahead of time so nothing leaks.

I am a HUGE advocate of visiting a local grocery or convenience store whenever you're traveling. This is key to helping you stick to your regular eating schedule and enjoying foods that fit your lifestyle. I recently took a long road trip with a gal pal and we would stop at the store really quickly to pick-up things like fresh fruit, whole grain snacks, low-fat yogurt, and drinks.

Great idea! Do you tend to stay at places that have a fridge?

A mini fridge in the least is definitely ideal!

I just listened to a fabulous speaker/author (Michelle Zellner) who shared ideas on staying healthy while traveling. One key take away from her was "PFF is your BFF" as a reminder to eat something with protein, fat, and fiber every 2-4 hours to keep your body and mind fed and help reduce your stress response.
