Do you have a mentor? If so, how did you meet them?

Could be a career mentor or more of a lifestyle/personal mentor. Did you meet through work, school, church, through a mutual connection, etc.?

My mentor is a Quality Manager within my organization. I was partnered with hi through my organization. I made it know that I wanted to learn more about quality, and they partnered me with him. He has provided me with a different perspective on many things. He has also helped me make connections with others in the organization. I would sit down and determine what would benefit you from a mentor relationship. What are you trying to learn? Then that will help you to determine the best person to help you.

I don't have an official mentor, however, I do find myself doing unstructured mentoring and advice with various high school and college students. I am still seeking an official mentor, and I'm hopeful that I will find one where we can both be mutually beneficial and develop a great bond.

I have a mentee and meet with her every two weeks. She works in the company and most of my advise has been career focused.

My mentor is my former CIO at a former company that I did a special project for. He recognized my talent and started asking my opinion on things. I earned his respect. He told me when I left that if I needed anything ever to call him. I have several times when making job changes, job decisions, negotiating, etc. Don't forget to seek out mentorship from women your age as well. That group I call more of a mastermind. We lift each other up and share knowledge, experiences, etc.

I have a few engineering mentors at work. Went old school and invited people out for lunch/coffee chats. It's been humbling how many people are so willing to extend a helping hand.

My mentor is my first HR Manager. We met when I was 21 years old. She took me under her wing and showed me the ropes. 26 years later, we're still friends. I'll always be grateful to her for her love and support.
