Managing Your Mind After a Layoff

What's the first thing you should do after a layoff? If you ask 10 people, you'll get 10 different responses. The first thing we recommend, manage your mind. THere is so much happening within us, thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs that until we clear those cobwebs our jobsearch will suffer. Check out this week's episode of Make Your Life Magnificent the podcast on just how to manage your mind after a layoff. Cut and paste in browser or listen on Apple Podcasts or wherever you like to download from. https://www.therestingmind.com/podcast/2020/5/12/episode-18-career-crossroads-managing-your-mind-after-a-layoff

Asked myself this morning, why am I not listening to a podcast while I work out instead of music? Checked podcasts on here and you were one of the top ones listed. You so did not disappoint! Checking out the recommended apps next. Thank you and look forward to tomorrow’s mind and body workout!

Thank you! I was laid off on Monday after 8 loyal years at one clinic in medical management and a particularly grueling COVID processes implementation. My position was eliminated as a way to cut out the middle manager, but it was particularly hurtful. As much as my immediate instinct was to grind on networks/applications, I realized I needed time to grieve this. The very next day, I had a new clinic contact me which felt good, but I knew I still needed time to regroup and reorganize my plans.

Kristin, I'm so sorry to hear this. Layoffs are a devastating blow to our self-esteem, ego and energy. Too often, we start the job search process is a state of frenzy and we don't realize we bring that frenzy with us. Providing yourself with some space and a clear head will allow you to make the right choice for your career, one based on careful consideration of your core values and the organization to insure they align. You've got this and congrats on already having a job connection, it's a way of the universe letting you know it'll be ok. Enjoy the episode and let me know what you think.
