Where are you and where would you like to be by Dec 2019.

Have you created an evaluation outline to discuss with your boss? Ask your manager for a meeting to determine where you currently are and where you would like to be by December 2019.

Right now I'm in sales as an individual contributor. I think I'm really close to a promotion and hope to manage a growing team sometime this year but it's a competitive space and a lot of competition so we'll see. Fingers crossed!

Just remember that YOU are your greatest asset. Your experiences are uniquely yours and that’s what will set you a part from the competition. Good Luck!!

Yes, I have. It's a way to demonstrate that you are willing, capable, and ready to go to the next level at your place of employment. I am actually creating a more in depth post toward the end of January. So stay tuned for that. A few quick tips: 1. Locate your job requirements by your company 2. Create a spread sheet and rate yourself from 1-5 on each requirement 3. Ask your boss to rate you on the same scale 4. Be receptive of critiques 5. Work with your boss to create a plan of action to exceed those requirements 6. Also create a list of the things you do outside of those requirements 7. Make manager aware of your extra work in a respectful way to create movement toward your desired next level I hope this is helpful. Have a great day!

I love this! Particularly for those of us who spend less face-to-face time with our managers, I think being this specific is SO important. And this probably goes for people who work in the office with their bosses...because let's face it. Who doesn't have a busy manager and a full plate?
