When I started with my team, there were several people who treated me badly such as inviting a co worker to breakfast, but not me even though we worked side by side, leaving me out of meetings, not keeping me in the loop about projects, and I had to deal with it because I was a contractor. I became a full time colleague three years ago and have worked hard to be professional but ignore those people. We have new people on our team who want to do Secret Santa, and go have dinner together. I have politely declined to do both, but the feeling of expectation is irritating. I do not like most of these people I work with, and don't want to spend a single penny on them, let alone spend my time and money with these people having Christmas dinner after work. I have no problem expressing myself or standing up for myself, I just wanted to know if anyone else feels the same way? I have discussed this with my manager who is supportive of my decisions, and she understands my feelings.
