What are some of the best articles/books on career development?

I have enjoyed a lot of what Harvard Business Review has to offer. At my previous company, I ran a weekly "book club" where a group of women got together and shared articles, read books on development, and focused our discussions on how to apply them to our careers,

I’m reading “Dare to Lead” by Brene Brown, and finding it to be incredible.

I recommend a refreshing take on career-oriented goal-setting by Marti Konstant called Activate Your Agile Career. She has certainly informed the approach I often take - and with great success - when a (coaching) client gets stuck. The agility gives permission to get into action again even if they can't have certainty about the outcome... because you're on the look-out for reading, I'll see if I can attach an article I wrote for my own audience some time around New Year... sort of a summary of the mindset and how to apply it so you can see if the book feels 'you'... https://www.helenhanison.com/tips-and-advice/quit-your-resolutions-before-they-fail-then-do-this-instead/ If it doesn't 'take' (tech and I are not best friends!), do feel free to message and I'll happily share another way! Warmly, Helen

I wish I had something more to add, but can you share the books that you have read from HBR?

There are some compilation books that HBR has put out. Most of their articles are freely available on the website. I'd go and give it a browse and search for something that relates to what you're interested in. There was also a really solid HBR podcast that two young women put out that was a good listen as well!

I am currently really enjoying Tools of Titans by Time Ferris. Perhaps it is beyond professional development but I have found it to be very inspirational. Also Dare to Lead by Brené Brown--freaking amazing.

This is isn't necessarily a career development book as it could be applied to any part of life. I recently read Atomic Habits by James Clear, and it was amazing. I would highly recommend!
