One year after starting my job, I, in my opinion, was unfairly placed on a PIP. The expectations were unreasonable, I was expected to perform functions that I had no experience with, training was non-existent and I struggled. I was blind-sighted by the PIP; never in my 30-year career have I ever been in this position. I was forced to say and be what they wanted and made it through. I have not been happy and constantly butt heads with my horrible manager. Now, there is a position in a different department with people I know, but have not worked with and I am asking for feedback on whether I should apply. Will my manager sabotage my efforts by giving me a bad recommendation and will that PIP - two years ago, disqualify me? Is that information available to a prospective manager for a posted position? Should I apply or just continue to find a way to leave the company?
