A unique employer perk I never knew I wanted until we received it
Last month I received a company-wide email that we all have a chance to make out a will for free. I’m in my 30-somethings and while this has been on my to-do list... it’s something that’s pretty easy to put off for obvious reasons. Because let’s face it, sitting down with an attorney and spending a couple of hundred dollars to have a will drawn up may be awkward and uncomfortable to think about.
But when we got this email, I was actually really intrigued and loved that our company was providing this as something free. Without a will, you’ll have no say in how your assets will be disbursed in the event of your untimely passing. No assets? Even writing a letter to specific people is something to think about.
What I realized: Creating a will gave me the peace of mind I never knew I was missing.
So I wanted to share in case you have a voice within your company to suggest this — Or if you’re even thinking about creating a will... maybe this can be a reminder for you!
For those who have created a will, how old were you, where were you at in life when you decided to do so, and what was your experience?
