My direct report was let go about a couple months ago. We are now a department of two.
Earlier this week, HR asked if they could take me to lunch to “check-in” with me. When I asked the manager what she wanted to talk about, she said she just wanted to see how I was doing since my boss left. I thought it was strange because no one checked in on me right when it happened (and I was pretty emotional then). Does anyone have advice or experienced something similar on how to handle? I just don’t feel like I can be completely be honest because I believe things in HR don’t always stay in HR and I treat it like I would make any public statement.
