Recent Mechanical Engineering grad struggling to find work
I recently graduated from Yale with a BS in Mechanical Engineering but I am still unemployed. I have submitted close to/over 200 applications but only got about 5 interviews that resulted in either not getting the job or being told that I lived too far away and they didn't want to pay for relocation. I have cold emailed people, reached out to my school career development office and even applied to jobs that only required a high school diploma still nothing.
A bit of background about my qualifications- I have extensive Solidworks experience (3D modeling, FEA, FMEA), I can machine pretty well and I have experience with other rapid prototyping methods (laser cutting, 3D printing). I also have experience with medical devices and their ISO codes. I have also done some field work in telecommunications. One thing I cant do that well is coding. I have done a bit of C++ and MATLAB.
I know I don't have that much experience but I'm thinking that maybe it's time for a career change. Except I don't even know what that is. I am very hardworking, very dependable, I put in a 110% in everything that I do and I wish someone would just give me a chance to prove that. If you have any advice that would be awesome! Thank you.
