Hi everyone! I just joined and am so excited to be here! My name is Annette, and I am a "well seasoned" woman who just turned 55. But I think and feel much younger than my age. Anyway, I have approx one to one and a half years left of grad school (mostly online). I am a little over halfway done with earning my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. Before that I was a stay at home mom of 5 for 26 years.
My husband and I have a dream that we are trying to figure out how to turn into reality. We currently live in Minnesota but want to relocate some place near the ocean with winters that are less intense than ours. The west coast is just too outrageously expensive for housing costs. We are thinking the coastal South (Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, or Virginia) would be a good option. However, we have no connections there. So, I am wondering how to go about finding jobs in one of those places. For now, it would just be my husband working. He currently works as a Design Operations Assistant for a carton manufacturing company. He makes mock ups and samples for clients. However, he is open to other types of jobs. He has a BA in graphic design. He basically is interested in any type of design or art/graphics production work. I also will need to find some kind of counseling internships as part of my program (but not right away). However, I think that probably won't be an issue. So, does anyone have any suggestions regarding which areas of the country and/or how to network, job search from afar? Thank you.
