I am taking time off over the holidays and want to use it wisely.

Curious to hear what other people do during their time off to really focus on recharging and devoting quality time to family and friends (and avoid being distracted by screens/work etc). Ideas appreciated!!

I know this sounds insane, but I'm planning on cleaning my basement... getting out all the clutter and having a new, open space for working and thinking in the new year.

Ha, I love this. Cleaning is on my list, too. I usually spend most of New Year's Day doing it. I try to get rid of all the excess stuff in my home (clothing + other stuff) that I don't regularly wear/use/enjoy, etc. It sounds like a chore but it actually feels really good.

Schedule a game night with your family and friends! My family is really into games, so we always build in time for that when we're all together over the holidays. We also have a tradition of going bowling together. Both these activities require your active participation, so they're good options if you're trying to avoid distractions.

I'm trying to read a lot over the holidays. It's been a while where I spent a lot of time just reading and doing nothing else. Well, I'll also be drinking hot coco.. :)

If you like sad books, A Little Life is incredible. I read it over a vacation and was hooked. It's a beautiful (but heartbreaking) book.

I love A Little Life! such a great recommendation since it’s so long and hard to put down.. I also recommend All the Lights We Cannot See. This is my favorite book of 2018! It’s also a long book that is hard to put down..
