Who's hiring Mature Workers?

I've had a steady work history as an Executive Assistant. After a series of layoffs, I've been looking for work for a very long time. Is there is a secret to getting hired? Am I too old? What am I doing wrong? It's very discouraging.

It can be discouraging for people of ALL ages. The fact of the matter is many many many people are applying for the same job. It's not you, it's the odds. TRUST ME. Don't give up. Cause something HAS TO give. I've been looking for years as well.

My dad is currently going through that - he was laid off after 13 years at a company and now has to navigate a VASTLY DIFFERENT job search landscape. If you have had a steady work history, it's time to reach out to your network. Let them know what's going on, and what you're looking for. What your history is, what your goals are. As Kaitlyn said, tailor your resume to the role you're going for. A Marketing exec will likely be looking for a slightly different background than HR.
