Unique Thanksgiving Dishes?

My family typically sticks with your 'standard' Thanksgiving meal - turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes - you know the rest. This year, I'm looking for some of the most unique or different Thanksgiving dishes your family makes. Drop them below!

Growing up we always had green bean casserole, which it turns out, my husband HATES. So, I switched it out for sautéed green beans with a little crispy bacon and toasted almonds. It's so yummy and just as decadent. But the thing I am getting excited about making is dessert. Last year, I came up with a pumpkin cheesecake with a pecan caramel topping. It replaced having to make multiple pies, and oooooh was it good!

Both of those sound amazing! Will have to try the green bean idea.

Google Sean Sherman’s Native American recipes online— a number have been posted recently and are great for Thanksgiving sides! Also: yam/carrot purée (can google recipes online). Plus, I love cornbread-based dressings.

Get ready to have your mind blown. Twice baked sweet potatoes. They're stuffed with...cheddar cheese and bacon. It's AMAZING. I've never liked sweet potatoes with sweet things on them (probably because I grew up eating them savory.)

Roasted butternut squash with pecans and brown sugar. We always do a green salad. Roasted vegetables, because we have vegetarians in the family Sweet potato graten. Compromise for those who want them baked plain and those who think Sweet Potatoes exist as a platform for mini marshmallows!

We make ricotta pie, which is essentially Italian cheesecake! SO GOOD!

So, I've only ever made it once and there is no existing written recipe - it's just been passed down by my Nana through the years. But, I'll see what I can do!

So this is not super unique, but soooo yummy, we call it corn soufflé or corn casserole. Corn bread mix, butter, cream cheese and sour cream, regular corn and creamed corn all mixed together and baked. Delish! I have also made a loaded mashed potato casserole that is really good as well.
