Question about Severance - I, along with 29 other people, were recently laid off due to a workforce reduction.
I am 54 yo female and was with that employer for 23 years. I was middle management and had an exemplary work record. I know that severance is not required, but my company offered a 34 year old employees with 10 years service, 20 weeks severance, equating to 2 weeks per year of service. Myself and another long term employee (30 years with company) and both over the age of 40, also received an offer of 20 weeks. amounting to less than 1 week per year of service. Think it's advisable to try to negotiate knowing some employees got 2 weeks for each year of service?
