Should I get a master degree of computer science?

I just graduated from college with computer science degree six months ago. It’s show hard to land a decent job. Should I get a master degree? Would it help?

Also agreed - it's time to get hands on experience in your field or as close to it and master your transferrable skills. Focus on *doing* work rather than *learning how to do work*. Consider planning and producing your own CS projects if you're having a hard time finding relevant employment. Look for social groups to join who share a common interest in CS (try meetup.com or look for local chapter organizations) and get yourself in front of people you want to work with and/or for. Good luck!

Hi there - the short answer is “I’m not sure.” You have the foundational education and now you need some experience. It would be better to take a job that utilizes your degree (even in a less-decent job) and then have THEM pay for your advanced degree while you beef up your resume. (Caveat: I’m a VP at a mid-size consulting firm and I would always seek expertise over education.)

I agree with this, especially a degree in something like CS which can veer more theoretical than practical at many colleges.
