How do you help your kids manage the stress level associated with applying to college? I'm guiding my second son through this process and finding each one is so different. My first didn't want to talk about it, while my second is potentially too focused on it. We've just hired a college counselor, primarily to create some space between us on this topic and allow parenting to be about something other than college. The counselor obviously has great knowledge which will help, but I've made it clear from the get-go that her job is not to get him into the #1 school, but to help him successfully manage the process. To me, that includes coming out healthy and happy on the other side regardless of the outcome.
