sleep vs working out

For those of you who like to work out: Would you trade an hour of sleep to get up and work out? For instance, if you have time to sleep 7.5 hours, would you instead sleep 6 - 6.5 hours so you have time to fit in a workout in the morning? I love working out, and it makes me feel great, but I also feel too tired sometimes. I can never decide whether I'll feel better if I sleep the extra hour or if I fit in the workout.

I'm a new mom to a 6 month old, in my early 50's, a full time c-level executive and wife to a man in training for his career . Before I got pregnant last year, I would prioritize morning workouts over sleep , leaving the house at 5:30 to work out then go to work (I'm not consistent as an afternoon or evening exerciser). Since getting pregnant, between severe morning sickness and acid reflux throughout my pregnancy and either being our son's primary evening caregiver or recovering from being his caregiver, sleep is more important. Once my husband finishes his training and our son more consistently sleeps through the night, I hope to be able to have a morning workout again...

I always choose sleep, but I think making a compromise a few days of the week is probably the way to go! I'm going to try it...

I take my minimum amount of sleep I need to feel good (my number is currently 7.5 hours) and determine what I can fit into my schedule based on that. This includes everything, including working out. When I've been at work sites, putting in a minimum of 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, I've noticed that it isn't the exercise keeping me from sleeping - it's everything else. I actually got in consistent exercise because I was away from my family and friends. I could just get back to my hotel, throw on running clothes, and head out the door...despite working at least twice as many hours as usual. Instead of choosing between exercise and sleep, I'd take a look at habits I could cut back on. Am I spending too much time on social media? Going out to restaurants a bit too much (try meal prep)? Turning on the TV? What Sierra said about priorities is my take on it, too =) Whatever you have in your life that's not a priority to you is what you should be sacrificing to increase exercise/sleep time.

A GREAT SPELL CASTER (DR.TAKUTA) THAT HELP ME GET MY EX HUSBAND BACK, AM SO HAPPY My name is LUCY MICHEAL from USA .I am here to give testimony on how I got my husband back. My husband left me for no reason 3 years ago. He moved in with another woman, I felt like killing myself, my life became very bitter and sorrowful. Then 1 day, a friend of mine told me about a great spell caster that is very good and, he said he gave him some lucky numbers that he played in a lottery and he won. I didn't believe it because I've worked with so many of them and it didn't work. He begged me further so I decided to try this great spell caster called DR TAKUTA. I still didn't believe. I used the spell he gave me and the next day I received a call from my darling husband Thomas last month. He apologized and came back to me. He even gave me 10,000USD as a means of compensating me. I'm very happy now. please i will advise you to contact him now and see for your self his Email is via____ [email protected] or whatsapp him through the following contact on +27788634102

hi guys, I just want to join the conversation, mine is a bit different since I'm in my middle age, I do sleep like 5 to 6 hours max a day, and I get up by 4 a.m. or earlier, I take 5 to 10 mins. exercise before I start my working time in my place, what I notice is that I can do a lot of things if I get up that early, I find it so energizing specially when I take a bath after my few minutes exercise, while in the bathroom I can think of those things that I should accomplish and stuff like that, my mind is more awake and some brilliant ideas keeps on pouring while taking a shower, sounds funny but this routine really makes my day...

I'm a sleeper too and find that I function best with around 8-8.5 hours. With that being said, I have started to work out on Mondays at 5:30 a.m. I'm trying to ease myself into a 5:30 a.m. workout routine slowly since I got a new job and know that I won't be able to work out after work or during lunch like I currently do. I'm hoping to work up to 2-3 mornings a week at 5:30... That's what I would suggest. Commit to one day a week and work your way up. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

I sleep 8.5 hours every night. I’m a sleeper. I also exercise about 45 minutes every day M-F. What I’ve found is that, while I can skip some sleep on an occasional basis, if I skip sleep regularly I get more stressed, unhappy, eat more, and feel like exercising less than if I do sleep. So I get my sleep as a priority, and I give up lots of other things instead. Less TV. Less hanging out time. When I first started exercising about a year ago, I created a routine that took me 20 minutes. I have a gym in my building, so including dressing and everything, 30 minutes was enough. The amount of time I spend went up very gradually as I “found” more and more time. Aka as my priorities shifted. There’s a great meme that says “Instead of saying ‘I don’t have time’ try saying ‘It’s not a priority’ and see how that feels.” Find the lowest priority and skip that. I don’t skip sleep.

Can you squeeze a workout in after work? If not, I would say compromise and maybe 3 days a week lose the hour of sleep to work out and the other 2 sleep in. Working out will make you feel more alert and better and maybe you'll even go to bed earlier that night to make up for that hour.
