I did, 10 years ago. Definitely go! I flew into Lima and then took a domestic flight to Cuzco that afternoon (it was a lot cheaper to buy that flight separately from a local company.) Stayed in Cuzco a few days to acclimate (lots to see there) and then took one of the not-Inca-Trail treks. (Lares I think?) You have to book the Inca Trail way ahead of time, and anyway it was cool to be nearly the only people on the trail. No one bothered me as a single woman traveler in Cuzco, too, which was refreshing. Great food, amazing history, so worth it!

I've been to all those place and highly recommend them all! Just be aware of altitude and outdoorsy clothing you will need to pack.

Yes! Cusco is beautiful. I recommend acclimating there before Machu Picchu. If you dare, sip on Pisco Sour drinks... so yummy. If you want to hike the Inca Trail reply here! I have a tour guide rec! Also, you'll want to book your tour month in advance and make sure you have one before scheduling a flight.
