What is your biggest challenge as a job seeker?

I'd like to know what challenges do job seekers have and what is one thing that, as a job seeker, you'd like to get help with? Thank you in advance.

Lot’s of good comments full of similar frustration as mine in the job search. There are varying opinions out there on what your resume should look like and contain, keeping it updated to meet specific requests and requirements I feel like a dog chasing it’s tail.

Customizing the resume to each job opening was probably first for me. The second was the lack of communication from the hiring company or recruiter.

I couldn't agree more with the already mentioned comments. I'd like to add that I get discouraged very easily if I don't 100% meet the job requirements/qualifications and haven't cultivated the skills to sell myself or pep-talk myself into reaching high.

My biggest challenge as a job seeker is getting the motivation to job search after working. Since I am full time, I worked 40+ hours a week. Trying to keep up with doing weekday searching at least 2-3x a week.

Amen. Tack on that 6-8 hours mandatory OT EACH WEEK. Trying to find the energy to look is almost impossible.

My biggest challenge is translating the work I currently do into other job positions. I cross a lot of functions so I very often find that I will meet one or two of the job duties but not the rest. Plus is that I am a very flexible, versatile worker but it definitely makes finding a different position very difficult.

My biggest challenge has been the ability to speak and sound like a tech. My ability to pass CompTIA A+ 220-1001/1002 with a 4.0 g.pa, resolve computer user issues effortlessly, does not match my ability to explain the terminologies and concepts. I was refused further training because I do not have this ability. That was why I sought this training, I will continue to find the training I need.

Figuring out how the job search game is played; it seems so counterintuitive! So much time has to be spent doing keyword searches online and optimizing the resume for each job in order to (hopefully!) get through the ATS. Just writing this reinforces to me the importance of networking since I think you learn a lot more about a person by having a conversation with them than from reading their resume.

My biggest challenge is often translating between what the same words mean at different companies. For example, some people write "excel skills", and they are looking for someone who understands SQL. Others mean they're looking for someone who can create pivot tables and charts, etc. Figuring out those differences is one of my biggest challenges when I'm looking for new roles!
