Uncertainty Creates Anxiety and Stress

Ladies, I don't think we have ever lived through times as uncertain as this and at this global scale. For so many women, we are feeling angst and elevated fears about tomorrow. As more schools are closing across the country and cities (like NYC) are about to close restaurants, bars and gathering establishments, our panic continues to creep. Uncertainty is a trigger. Think about a scary movie when the music begins to play and you know SOMETHING is going to happen but unsure of what. That UNCERTAINTY is what makes everything more frightening. While you cannot become certain, no one can. What you can do is become certain of things you CAN control. > Certain that you are doing everything you can to prevent personally spreading or getting COVID-19 > Certain that you have the essentials to support your family. > Certain you are cutting back so you are prepared for any financial shifts. > Certain that this is a flu-like virus and you will be ok. There isn't an answer to what's next but stay connected to family and friends and find your certainties so you can feel some control. Come on over to join our Facebook community, Just Gen X - The Resting Mind for ongoing support.

Completely agreed! Not knowing is stressful, but if we can accept that there are things we don't know and focus on the things we can control, it'll lead to feeling happier as well!

it is a time of uncertainty. But, the more we band together and help one another, and the more positive we are, the better we can weather this storm. Keep the faith. And, for the record, I am not a big fan of the scary movie. I have a lot of faith and trust that this too will pass.

Yes Connie, banning together, supporting one another, having patience for everyone's way of coping are all important over the next few crazy weeks.
