Cleaning up and curious, what do you need to throw away?

For me, it's makeup, shoes and lots of cardboard (recycle!)

I thought I did a good job of cleaning out makeup, but then found something in a drawer that must be five years old. Oops. I cleaned out the kitchen of unused utensils, pans and dishes last year, so am good for a while. I need to clean out the linen closet though.

I’m going room by room. I’m on my fourth one since 2019 started. Taking everything out of the room unless it’s huge furniture, pretending Im moving in And using more of a minimalist style. ❤️the look. My kitchen counters are “mom approved”. Lol.

Clearing out my closet is one of those things that I do maybe every six months. (I am kind of OCD about that space). Worn out shoes, in the trash! Things that are too small, I donate. Unmatched socks, I take the time to see how bad they are and make things out of it. Papers, depending on the importance... Shred, scan and save or just simply throw away. Now, the kitchen that is where needs, wants and territories get called. I like simple and lots of space to work on. My husband? Clutter, clutter and more clutter. So I am still working on that one. :-)

i feel you! i love stuff but i do try to keep the kitchen paired down a bit. I am the clutter-y one in the house, tho, so my husband is always asking me to gather some donations.

I look at the long term goal of the item I work at a clothing store so I have alot of rotation through my closet. When i clean my clothing out there are the usual friends pile, try poshmark pile, and then donate asap. Books, dishes, furniture are all bought w pretense of will use and always wanted needed etc. Shoes get tossed the minute they wear out-shoes that hurt your feet are a waste. Paperwork that is 7 or more gets tossed

Donate clothes that you haven't worn in 6 months or longer (or at all) If you are plus size or curvy, sites like StyleForIt.com are SUPER helpful!

Have you watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix?? She has some incredibly helpful tips on how to reduce the clutter that I tried out over the weekend. Even watching the first episode is really helpful.
